About our Pop Culture collection

The collection has three strands. Pop art in the comic tradition - Ben-Day dots, primary colours and speech bubbles shouting OMG, OOPS and SHHH, red lips and retro cartoon figures. Speed and spectacle - supercars on open roads, classic American cars, desert motorcycles, a battleship under moonlight, concert stage lights. And fandom - fantasy dragons and thrones, comic-book heroes, manga warriors, football stadium colours and national flags. Half are single landscape canvases, half are five-panel sets built for a wide wall.

Pop art wants a plain wall and a bit of room to shout: white, grey or a single dark colour behind it, and nothing else competing within arm's reach. Above a sofa or a desk a 100 × 65 cm canvas holds its own; a 5-piece set at 160 cm turns a car or a dragon into the whole wall behind the screen. In a teenager's room, let them choose - it is the one purchase where their taste in the print matters more than yours in the sofa. Bold prints also work in threes: pick a colour theme and hang three 70 × 45 cm canvases in a row.

Every canvas is printed to order with HP Latex inks - GREENGUARD Gold certified, water-based and fade-resistant, so saturated reds and yellows hold for years - then hand-stretched in Sofia, Bulgaria on kiln-dried spruce and fir bars. Slight-gloss 270 gsm polyester canvas gives comic colours their punch; 370 gsm matte cotton suits the more painterly designs.
